Friday Night Supper Program was cofounded by the Arlington Street Church and Dignity Boston in 1984. The two organizations continue to cosponsor the programwhich provides meals to anyone in need every Friday night from 5 pm to 7 pm People of many faiths and some of no faith volunteer at the program, as do people of different lifestyles. Our assessment of volunteers is based on the quality of work they are willing to bring to the program. We welcome people to our volunteer corps who come to work, to help assure that the 250 people who come for a meal will receive that meal in a safe, dignified and respectable environment.
Both cofounding organizationsthe Arlington Street Church and Dignity Bostonprovide funding and volunteers to Friday Night Supper. Arlington Street Church also provides free space and utilities to the program. Board members are volunteers who have shown a steady commitment to the program by volunteering on Friday nights. Each board member plays a major role in the administration of the program. |
